  • Visual novel Code: Realize ~Guardian of Rebirth~ (PS Vita) will get an anime adaptation.
  • Square Enix’s Dive In streaming service will end on September 13, 2015.
  • A smartphone game is in the making for the manga seriesNoragami titled Noragami ~Kami to Enishi~. It is slated for a fall release.
  • Release date for PC horror game Iwahime, written by Ryukishi07 (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Umineko no Naku Koro ni), is on November 27, 2015.
  • 28th Animator Expo Short will be Endless Night directed by Sayo Yamamoto (Michiko to HatchinLupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine).

  • Boys Over Flowers musical reveals cast members. The play will open on January 2016.

  • G Fantasy magazine’s August 18, 2015 issue adds an extra edition for Kuroshitsuji featuring the top 6 characters in a popularity vote.
  • Shingeki no Kyojin WALL OSAKA exhibition will be held at Grand Front Osaka (North Building) from September 11, 2015 to October 18, 2015.
  • Kami-sama Minarai: Himitsu no Cocotama reveals staff and cast members. The series premiere’s on October 1, 2015.
  • Mizushima Hiro (Kuroshitusji, BeckAbsolute Boyfriend) will guest star on HBO series Girls‘ 5th season next year.
  • AnoHana live-action adaptation reveals the adult cast with their young counterparts. The special episode will air on September 21, 2015.
  • Beginning August 20, 2015 to August 23, 2015, Nico Nico Live will stream up to 13 episodes of Majestic Prince.
  • Terra Formars volume 14 confirms sequel for the anime series.
  • Ashley Wood (Metal Gear Solid, Halo 3) guest artist’s on Ultra Jump‘s September 2015 issue, illustrating Karasuma Tasuku‘s No Guns Life.
  • Project X Zone 2 reveals reappearance of character Saya. Game’s roster is updated.
  • Monthly COMIC Liu commemorates their 100th issue (released on August 18, 2015) by giving out 100 t-shirts with either of the designs included in the issue. If a shirt is wanted, the deadline for the application is on September 18, 2015.
  • Super Danganronpa 2 ~Sayonara Zetsubo Gakuen~ stage play reveals new visuals.
  • Hana to Yume magazine reveals new musical for Kamisama Kiss as well as an OAD. The musical will run from January 15, 2016 to January 21, 2016. The OADs will be bundled with volume 23-24th limited editions.
  • Alice in Borderland spinoff, Alice on Borderroad, began serialization at Monthly Sunday GX’s September issue.
  • Bandai Namco Entertainment announces that Summon Night 6: Lost Borders (PS4, PS Vita) is in the works.
  • Nitroplus Blasters Heroines Infinite Duel (PS3/4) adds Gakkou Gurashi!‘s Takeya Yuki as a partner character.
  • Digimon World -Next 0rder- (PS Vita) will introduce its female protagonist on V Jump magazine’s October issue.
  • Mahōka Kōkō no Rettōsei: Yokohama Sōran-hen ends on G Fantasy’s October issue.
  • Garaku.mag magazine’s 9th issue will be its last issue before it ceases its publication.

  • Aikatsu! gets a new film in the summer of 2016.
  • The first novel volume of Itachi Shinden will ship out on September 4, 2015, while the second volume on October 2, 2015.
  • Manga series Itsuka Tiffany de Chōshoku o‘s drama adaptation will premiere this fall.
  • Kuroshitsuji‘s musical play Kuroshitsuji -Chi ni Moeru Licorice- gets to run in three cities in China—Shanghai from December 11-13, 2015, Beijing from December 18-20, 2015, and Shenzhen from December 25-27, 2015.
  • One Piece gets a new anime film this summer 2016.
  • Online game Touken Ranbu will get a manga anthology, called Tōken Ranbu Gakuen, beginning August 28, 2015.
  • Manga series Itazura no Kiss gets a film adaptation, calledItazura na Kiss the Movie ~High School-Hen~, for a fall 2016 release.

Weekly News Update: August 9-15, 2015

  • A live-action for the manga Kou no Dori by Suzunoki Yuu has been green-lit, and will premier this October at TBS (Fridays at 10pm).
  • Takayama Shinobu (Amatsuki, Mr. Morning) will launch a new (manga) series temporarily entitled Sakitama at Nekumi+’s November issue. The first chapter will be 24 pages.
  • Nintendo has announced that there will be a manga adaptation for Fire Emblem by Kozaki Yuusuke (Donyatsu, Gantz/Minus) and (GetBackers, Kindaichi Detective Files). Its content is not revealed yet, but it’s set to begin on Monthly Young Magazine’s October issue.
  • Suzuki Tatsuhisa, VA of Tezuka Hikaru in the anime adaptation of Library Wars, is set to play a minor role in the live-action sequel of the same series, Library Wars: The Last Mission.
  • Pokemon the Movie: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages that premiered last July 18, 2015 revealed a new Pokemon that will appear in the 2016 film.
  • Mori Taishi (Kyou no Asuka Show, Idejuu!) wrote a one-shot for Grand Jump entitled Naa-tan to Goshujin-tama.
  • Fairy Tail will have a new monthly magazine entitled Monthly Fairy Tail Collection. Apart from a print release, they will also have a digital release. Each issue will have a DVD bundle of the anime and a special video from Hirano Aya.
  • A remake of Resident Evil 2 is in the works.
  • Although there is no set date release for Final Fantasy XV, it is announced that there will be a worldwide release for the game.
  • New VA cast join the anime adaptation of the manga Servamp by Tanaka Strike.
  • Steins;Gate 0 (PS4 edition), that’s slated for a release on November 19, will come with a download code for the HD remastered version of the original Steins;Gate visual novel (PS4).

  • Upcoming anime Rakudai Kishi no Chivalry reveals more cast members as well as the performers who will sing the ending theme song.
  • From August 14-16, 2015, Nico Nico Live will be broadcasting Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, Lupin III Part 1, and Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro in anticipation of the new Lupin III tv series this October 2015.
  • Visual novel Wagamama High Spec by Madosoft will be getting an anime adaptation.
  • Anime series Teekyuu is green-lit for a 6th season.
  • There will be a limited US theatrical release of the live-action adaptation of Shingeki no Kyojin. The first part will be shown on September 30, while the second part will be shown on October 20.
  • Hidan no Aria AA reveals a new key visual as well as the performer for its opening theme.
  • G Fantasy magazine announced that the anime series K: Return of Kings will get a manga adaptation from Furuhashi Hideyuki once again, as he continues to work with illustrator Shiota Haruto (Devil Survivor 2, K: Missing Kings).
  • Sword Art Online: Lost Songs will hit the shelves on November 17 and 13, 2015 in the US and Europe respectively.
  • Sony Music and Aniplex revealed a new rhythm game, Band Yarouze!.
  • Monthly Comic Gene magazine announced live-action TV series adaptation of the manga series Nietzsche-sensei ~Konbini ni, Satori Sedai no Shinjin ga Maiorita~.
  • Anime series PriPara will be getting a musical adaptation on February 2016.

  • Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F is at top 9 among the highest grossing anime films in the US following its release last August 4, 2015.
  • Final Fantasy XV Director, Hajime Tabata, confirmed the game will be released in 2016. No specific date yet.
  • From August 7-21, 2015, there would a One Piece Stamp Rally to celebrate the new log collection release.
  • Fujimoto Shinta (Red Raven) will adapt Narita Ryohgo’s Baccano! to a manga.
  • Limited edition of Yozakura Quartet volume 17 will come with a drama CD.
  • Naruto Gaiden: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring Month volume 1 was just released last August 4, 2015.
  • Original anime series, Punch Line, gets a manga adaptation serialized in Dengeki G’s Comic starting this October 2015.
  • Recently reunited voice actress unit Aice⁵, who appeared at Sore ga Seiyuu! 05, will be selling Aice⁵ All Songs Collection “Sore ga Seiyū! Record” at Comiket 88.
  • Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu will be broadcasted by MBS on January 2016.
  • Square Enix has released a new trailer and a glimpse of the Malboro gameplay for Final Fantasy XV.
  • The limited edition Shingeki no Kyojin volume 18 will be bundled with a Santa Eren nendroid.
  • The manga Nijiiro Days by Mizuno Minami gets an anime adaptation produced by Production Reed (Eureka Seven, Macross).
  • The novel Joker Game by Yanagi Kouji gets an anime adaptation directed by Kazuya Nomura, produced by Production I.G. while the original character designs will be made by Shirow Miwa.
  • The official date for the showing of the new Initial D movie is on February 6, 2016.
  • The trailer for the live-action adaptation of the manga Orange by Takano Ichigo was released.
  • There will be a live-action adaptation of Prison School, directed by Noboru Iguchi (The Machine Girl, Robo Geisha).
  • With Netflix being brought to Japan, it has collaborated with Sidonia no Kishi to promote it.
  • Yoshinari Yoh will be releasing his first artbook, Yoh Yoshinari Collection: Illustration Edition, at Comiket 88.
